Constantly teetering between the coherent and the absurd, Buen rummages source materials from the residues and discards of history, capitalism, and contemporary life. His practice is deeply rooted in the examination of contentious texts and contexts--an apparent intellectual pursuit manifesting the strength and depth of his complex body of work. Often collapsing and reinventing visual modes and narrative methodologies, Buen hauls the plasticity of time and space (actual/virtual) through distortion as a leitmotif to portray confounding ruptures in reality.
